Arranging Your Own Wedding

Intimate Wedding attended by family, close friends that won't rob your bank account and leave it dry? It is indeed possible to have that. These were my list of things I did to get my own cheap intimate wedding in Jakarta on March 2015. Hopefully this list will also be useful for your future wedding plan. Beware: Bridezilla moment might appear once in a while during those arrangements.
  1. Plan, Plan, Plan
  2. Hire Your Bride's Maids
  3. Book Venue
  4. Catering
  5. Invitation
  6. Confirmation
  7. Print Out
  8. Bachelorette Night
  9. Rehearsal
  10. Happy Wedding!!!!
1. Plan, Plan, Plan
Nothing will work well without the proper planning. Obviously you can't skip this step. Plan where do you wanna get married or whether you only want to have the party there or the ceremony too. Plan your date of the wedding (best to pick holiday or weekend). Plan the theme for your wedding. Plan what kind of food do you want to serve on the wedding party. Plan everything ahead of time.

2. Hire Your Bride's Maids
I know as Indonesian we rarely do this western tradition. However, when you are planning your on wedding and arranging it yourself, you are gonna need a solid group of besties helping you out. I hired 3 of my besties to be my bride's maids. You can have your own unique way on hiring them. For me, I was just inviting them over for dinner and bribing them with the food. So they would have difficult time saying 'no'. hehehe
My solid Bride's Maids Team
3. Book Venue
It is wise to decided what kind of theme do you want for the party first. Then find out what kind of place that will best suite the theme. My theme was Bollywood, so I picked Indian Restaurant (Amaya Resto in Gambir) for the venue. Bear in mind having different venue and catering will cost a lot more. So, try to get a venue that serves food too. If you book your venue in the restaurant, you will only have to pay for the food (at least some awesome and nice restaurant won't let you pay for the place too). Make sure to have back up plan. I checked 3 different venues before deciding on one that able to accommodate my needs and agree on our terms.

4. Catering
Make sure you already know how many people will come to your wedding. If you are going to invite 50 people, at least double up the amount. For me, I invited 70 people and booked catering for 100 people. If the restaurant already has buffet menu, that will be easier to choose. But it could be cheaper to actually break down your own menu and discuss the price with the venue/caterer.

5. Invitation
Online invitation is a lot cheaper (could be free) compare to print out invitation. But, doesn't mean it has to be tacky. Nowadays there are a lot of online invitation available on the internet. Just google one that you like. I got my design from this website. They will let you send invitation for free for a certain amount of invitations. If your guest list is more than that, you can bought the coins (needed to send the invitation) for a cheaper price. What I love about this website is that they let you contact your guest to their email address and once they confirmed their attendance, you are gonna get informed from the guest list information.
You can also post your online invitation on your social media long before the date.

Post on Path
6. Confirmation
Urge your guest to answer your invitation. Either talk to them personally, text them or asked your bride's maids to do it for you. The website will let you share the guest list with your co-hosts (bride's maids) and it will be easier for your bride's maid to contact them for confirmation. How awesome right!?
Once you got the number of guest that will come, you can let the venue/caterer knows about it. You can change the amount of the food served if there is major change on your guest list.

7. Print Out
Just because you have your invitation online, doesn't mean you don't have to print out anything.
Print this out on smaller size and hand it over to your guest with your wedding trinkets (could be candy or any accessories)
Asked your guest to take pictures during your party and post it online with your chosen hashtag. It will save money on photographer and some friends will actually come bringing fancy DSLR camera.
pinterest.com
Bigger size, put it on the Guest Greeter Table along with the Guest Signed Book
Creative way for your Guest Signed Book, instead of signing it asked them to put their thumb print on it
Print this papers on a thick paper. It doesn't have to be as thick as invitation card. But at least don't use a thin A4 paper. PaperOne A4 80gr or 100gr is suitable for color printing. If you can print this in the office. It will save money too..hehehe
For a better idea, You can check pinterest on Wedding hashtag. They have lots of cool ideas.
My signed book is a thumbprint pics. My bride's maid would provide the guest with 4 different colors of choice on the table and the guest could put their finger on the paint and planted the thumbprint on the printed out picture (like a balloon).
My other bride's maid would take a picture of the guest and their plus one using polaroid camera. Then they could signed the photo and it would goes to our guest album.

I want all my guests to dance to Bollywood Music
8. Bachelorette Night
Forget about the Wedding and go mad with your bride's maids. Let them plan your awesome bachelorette night.

9. Rehearsal
Let your bride's maids check out the place the night before. Enjoy your last night as a single lady. Let them takes care of it. Unless, you are like (micro managing person).

10. Happy Wedding you!
Prepared yourself for the big event. Get your hair done in hair spa salon. Wear the dress of your choice. Pampered yourself in a classic simple make up. Enjoy your party too. You earn it. Happy Wedding darling ^_^

Other tips:
1. Share your budgeting plan with your partner using Google Drive Doc. It will be easy to open anywhere even when you are not together with your partner or when he is away from you.
2. Write all your plan on Evernote or Google Doc and share it with your bride's maids.
3. Try to use Google Hangout group for a video chat with your bride's maids when you couldn't find a good time to meet to plan things out.
4. Activate your social media to post about your wedding invitation or save the date picture.
5. Don't forget to give tips to those waitress working on the venue that day.
6. Make sure to get an appointment with hairdresser or make up artist long before the D day.
7. Calm yourself because there will be times when you change into bridehulk/bridezilla when things didn't go well as you plan it.
8. Hire your friends as MC for the event. (They will want to do it for free as a gift for your wedding day ;-p )
9. Have a karaoke in the venue. You will be surprised by how many of your friends can actually sing.
10. Don't lose yourself and completely forget about your soon to be husband. Get yourself a date with him.

JimBARan Outdoor Lounge: Grand Opening Night

JimBARan 4 days before the launching

  • Address: Intercontinental Jakarta Mid Plaza Hotel. Jalan Jenderal Sudirman Kav 10-11, Jakarta Pusat, Daerah Khusus Ibukota Jakarta 10220, Indonesia
    Phone:+62 21 2510888
  • Jakartan will be very happy to know that there is a new hotspot to hangout with a new unique concept located in the heart of Jakarta or known as the Golden Triangle of Jakarta, Sudirman area.

Intercontinental Jakarta Mid Plaza Hotel or known internationally as Intercontinental Hotel and locally as Mid Plaza Hotel, finally launched their new bar with a unique concept. They merged a bar/lounge with an essence of Indonesian culture on their design. It is not just any bar, it is more like an outdoor lounge where you can gaze at the stars or Jakarta lights. The lightning surrounding the area made to look romantic and comfortable for the eyes. The sounds of dripping water merge beautifully with the music.

Prior to the event, they sent me an invitation by mail with the cutest form of invitation. I adore the design so much that It will definitely stay in my table as a room decor. I didn't expect the invitation to be this gorgeous yet adorable. I am a sucker for everything cute. They definitely know how to capture their audience. When I got the invitation card, I know the event would be an awesome one. And I was right!
Catrina, their friendly PR, told me that I can bring a +1. So I came with Dewi (I met her from an online gathering community once, and we have been friends for almost 2 years now). We were so surprise with how packed it was around 6.30pm. Usually the party would not start that early unless it is a really cool place. We saw the line for the seafood was so long. We decided to stroll for other tasty sweet tapas collection.
I am a big fan of Churros. So happy to find it there.
The Wine was so light and smells nice. It has a little hint of sweetness on the smell and the taste. I love the taste. Too bad I forgot to ask the name for this wine.

We also tried their Photo-box section. The photographer was impatient, we didn't get to practice our best pose. Both of us were not happy with how it came out.

We decided to get back to Seafood section. We had to stay on the long line for a while. But it was super worth it. Their main chef cooked it himself on the outdoor area. It was amazing to see the master worked on his art. I forgot to take video/picture. We were too amaze with the foods. We both fell in love with the mushroom tapas and their fish delicacies. Super Lezato!!

I ordered this sweet and delightful "Red Revenge" from their free flow cocktail bar. Surely a very pretty and pleasant-tasting beverage. I was quite content. Not too long, I met my friend that I met previously in Peeta Planet Blogger Gathering, Tasha. She introduced us to 2 of her friends. We had a quick chat. I told her she won a price but she was not coming to the stage so they had to choose another winner. Unfortunately, I won nothing that night. But the night it self already very rewarding experience for me. I suggested my 3 gorgeous  friends to try JimBARan's "Red Revenge".  I hope that would make Tasha less disappointed about not claiming her winning prize.

Before I went home, Aileen and Catrina reminded me that they have goody bag for us. There are what I got on the bad; A picture frame that looks like on of JimBARan's Bamboo decoration and a voucher worth 35% discount.

    Oh, you can also check my friend, Tasha's blog for another story of the event in this link;

    Yahoo OMG Awards Preparation

    Hi Beauties,

I have been invited to come and join Yahoo OMG Awards on Saturday Night 7pm in The Kasablanka. The theme for the evening is Electric (Neon and Color blocking).

I haven't really decide what to wear for the evening. Most of the neon color outfit that I own is in bright yellow color. I didn't really pay attention but turn out I might like bright yellow color. It pops out my skin color that's probably why I like it.
    These are some of my options for the dress code;

Before applying make up, usually for a special occasion I would like to clean and mask the face first. These days I have been using olive oil for better and kissable lips. These are my skin treatment for a big occasions.

    1. Hada Labo Ultimate Whitening Face wash and Lotion
    2. Ovale Olive Oil
    3. Sariayu Acne Mask

These are the make up and other accessories I might wear to the occasions. Tho I haven't really decide the theme of my make up..whether it is gonna be electric too or glamour or sweet which is my fav look. These are my weapons ;-p

    First Picture
    1. My Fav, Caring Color Luminous Skin Compact Powder
    2. Silky Girl Double Intense Gel Liner
    3. Lingmei Sparkling Pink Liner
    4. Maybelline Bold Matte (Pink)

    Second Picture
1.CC Happy Eye Shadow: Amuse Me
    2. Silky Girl Long Wearing Lip Liner: Rose
    3. PAC Make up Pencil: Black
    4. CC Eye Brow: Black
    5. Gold Sparkle

    Third Picture
    1. Mustika Ratu Oxigenated Spray (Apply before and during the occasion)
    2. The Body Shop Cranberry Shimmer Lotion for shimmery skin look

Forth Picture contains 3 pieces of rings (probably I will wear the one with pearl in the middle), a love  necklace, and a brooch.

I promise I will update my post for the occasion make up finishing look later on. For now, I will do skin treatment first. I don't want to get breakouts after applying heavy make up. So far, I haven't use any primer, BB/CC/DD cream foundation, etc. I haven't really found the brand that I like yet. So, I don't think it will be that heavy make up. But I don't want to risk it. Will definitely put acne mask before make up and might wear it again a day after the occasion.

So, this is what I am going to do this weekend. What about your weekend, Beauties? Any plan to go out? Hope you have a splendid weekend, Chikas.

    Luv,

    Suci Park

Cheap Trick for Halloween Party: Halloween Costume, Halloween Make up

Hi Girls, I know Halloween just passed and this post might be too late. But hey Halloween comes every year and this advice or tricks came for my own experience. it will be great to share it with you :-)

On Saturday night I was invited to The Haunted Castle hosted by Homeground and Negev Restaurant. However, 2 days prior to the party me and the girls didn't know what to wear and we were too broke to rent costume just for one day use..not too mention that costume has been wore by who knows how many and who knows how dirty it is gonna be. So, we almost decided not to go. But, we had this idea to just be pretty and wear anything from our own closet then paint our face using face paint. You know face paint that usually used by sports supporter when they coloring their face with flags pattern. But worry not, the brand that we are using is safe and it is has been known for its organic contain and easy to clean afterward.

    Here is the face paint (Sorry I covered up the brand and now I forgot where did I put the brand poster);

I got it from Gramedia Semanggi Plaza. it should be easy to get it. It costs me around 100k and I split it with 2 of my girls. So, the only money we spent on make up (aside for our own make up collection) was only around 35k each (3$/person). Hahaha super cheap. But worry not my dear..we still look good with cheap paint too..hehe

    This is my face before all the paint. I used this following make up for this look;
    1. Make Up Forever Primer
    2. Caring Colours Luminizing Compact Make Up
    3. Caring Colours Happy Eyeshadow: 08 Amuse Me (purple color on my eyelids and a smear of off white color on my eye's edges)
    4. PAC Eyeliner and Caring Colours Eye Brow

    We found a neat trick on Youtube on how to make a scar with tissue. There are plenty of scar making videos in Youtube but most of them use wax and it cost 200k for a wax scar kit. So we decided to do the tissue thing. Here is the link for your reference;
    Halloween make up tutorial
I choose freshly made scar look. So I appeared to be a ghost of a pretty girl unknowingly dead and has scar on her face and blood tears from her eyes.

And these is a collage pict of finishing touch including some pictures from the party. So Who told you that you have to spend lots of money to look good when you can be pretty with affordable price!! Enjoy Chikas!

    Luv,
