Event Report: Anna Sui Romantica

A couple days ago, Anna Sui has launched its next perfume, Romantica. Was name Romantica inspired for Anna Sui's childhood which was never far from flowers. She said she has always been romantic at heart. Probably we can already see that from her trademark. Flower, butterfly, warm golden, fiery red, sweet purple, etc are a clear deterrent on how romantic she is that she carries it out on her products.

The launching was hosted in Central Department Store, Grand Indonesia. In their small yet cute private lounge accommodating 20-30 people. The Decoration for the event was neat and pretty. Everything looks romantic as it should be to perfectly capture the essence of this perfume.

Anna Sui once said 'If fairytales were made of flowers, they would smell like Romantica'.

It is said that in the ingredients, one of the spice they used to create the scent is Indonesian sandalwood. It is not the first time  Anna Sui's perfume has used Indonesian spices on their ingredients. Our country has always been rich in spices. For some reasons, I have that sense of proud when i smell the scent of this perfume. Call me romantic, but knowing that I might live this country to move to another country, this sort of things makes me going mellow. Maybe this perfume will remind me of home once I live outside of the country.

Scent Review;

cold fresh sweet instead of warm sweetAt first, i smell a hint of guava..but the more i pay close attention it is actually a scent of pomegranate blend nicely with the flowery scent. On my opinion the scent of pomegranate and other spices are over powering the scent of the flowers. 

One thing that I like the most about Anna Sui's launch event, they make us feel special and it feels more of a Soiree where they will teach you some neat tricks. Last Anna Sui's launching event, they taught us to create flower tiara. This time they taught us how to create flower decoration on a cupcake, just like it looks on the picture above.

Review: Anna Sui La Vie de Boheme

Your Life, Your Passion,  Your Way

Anna Sui Indonesia has sent me one of their perfume product to review. Nope, they didn't pay me to review this product. So, I will let you know what I think about the product.

1. Packaging

I like the packaging (tho it is a bit too girly for some people). When you buy Anna Sui's product, you know you like girly feminine designs that has always been their design and decoration on their products. I am a girly girl, I love the color and designs they picked. It somehow shows a more adult feminine side from the choice of color and the pattern drawn on the packaging. They said the design is called Art Nouveau. Fancy!!!

2. Bottle

The bottle design is truly cute and feminine. Purple matte color for a bottle that shaped like Rose and butterfly lid in a bright gold color.

3. Ingredients

Perfumer, Philippe Romano from DRUM created this perfume from Turkish Rose, Sparkling Pear, Burgundy Berries and some warm woods element. Those names are absolutely fancy. I sprayed it a bit on my skin, I thought I only sprayed it a bit. But the smell was pretty strong. So it is the kind of perfume that you only need to spray a tad bit of it and it will goes along way. Kinda save money for the price they are selling it.

4. La Vie de Bohème in words

This perfume is targeted for Romantic yet Free Spirited Women. It carries a playful spring-summer scent. Portraying a fun yet mysterious character. Easy going yet strong and confident. It smells like a warm flower combined with the fruit scents from the Burgundy Berries. Personally I prefer a breeze of spring scent compare to a warm scent. Tho I don't mind the scent of this perfume either. This makes me feel elegantly feminine.

5. Test

I sprayed it on my clothes and the back of my neck. It stays for quite some time, like around 8 hours or so. Even after I took quick rinse because the weather was quite hot yesterday. I still smell like flower. I probably sprayed too much. Because at first the scent was almost too strong. I sprayed it 3 times on the skin. I guess one or twice here and there should be enough next time.

6. Price

It comes on several sizes and different prices.

Hotel Review: One Farrer Park, Singapore

This was my 3rd trip to Singapore and maybe his hundreds trip to Singapore. But it was our 2nd trip together. We decided to take a short holiday to Singapore while extending his VOA.

He let me choose the hotel we were gonna stay, because last time I didn't really like the hotel he chose. It took a long time for me to chose one. Then I saw one on Agoda with a glowing review. The price was cheap 1.7million rupiah/night but it has almost perfect review. We decided to stay in One Farrer Park in Little India.

We were lucky because this new hotel upgraded us from basic room to VIP Club Lounge Room without having to pay extra. I think it was suppose to be around 4million/night in the Club Lounge Room. Yeay me!!! I mean Yeay OFP!

This hotel deserves my vote. Room was cute and comfortable. I love that everything is using technology, from shutting down the drapes to automatic feet light to avoid bumping into things at night. The shower head was amazing. They gave us 2 options. I feel like showering under the hot water rain. Love the bathroom amenities too.

Next time, I would definitely stay there again. Tho, next time we can only afford the basic room. Also, it was only walking distance to Farrer MRT and Mustafa Centre too.
It was wonderful and amazing experience for us. I used to work a lot with Hotels to know a great one when I see it and this would be it. Excellent service, high-tech appliances, wonderful views, cute room and bathroom, great enjoyable food. Me and my partner would like to say personal thank you to the lady in the receptionist (we don't really know her name), Malik and Danial for their kindness and great service. Danial was actually befriending me on Instagram and frequently contacted me there too.  Who would have thought that I would make friend with one of the awesome Singapore people in the hotel. It is like his kindness was not just about service, but it was sincere.

Ps: Probably they could be better in terms of service in the lobby. Lobby area looked kinda dull and They don't have bellboy (or he was nowhere to be seen) and no one to open the door in the lobby.

First Waxing Experience (Half Leg and Brazilian Wax)

One of my best friends has been pestering me about going to a Wax Parlour for 2 years. She told me how nice it made her feel after getting it waxed.

Finally yesterday I mustered up my courage and decided to go to one of those wax parlours in Jakarta. I chose to go to Pink Parlour as I already had their pamflet and it says they were nominated for some awards including 'The Best Painless Brazilian Wax'.

I wasn't planning to write a blog about it originally. So I didn't take decent pictures for the place.

I tried their half leg service first as it was my first experience with waxing. I need more time to prepare myself before the ultimate waxing job.

They used a blue hot gel (not sure what it was) and a clean strip. I assume it was sugar wax. It didn't feel hurt as much as I thought it would be. It felt like a zolt of electricity but a very tiny one. No biggies really.

Finishing..just clean up

One thing I love the most about my first experience is that they made the room very comfy and clean. Also I was pretty lucky because the mbak/beautician who worked on my waxing was really really nice and fun. She answered all my questions and worries about this treatment. She also explained everything and she was pretty talkactive that it distracted me from the pain. Her name is Mbak Yeni and if I go there again, I will definitely ask for her again.

She managed to convince me to get the Brazilian wax. We started with bikini wax in case it was too painful for me. But apparently the award was not a lie at all. It was indeed painless experience. I would not say it is not painful at all, but it wasn't so bad. It felt like a zolt of electricity again..slightly bigger than the one on my legs but not too bad at all.

The Pink Hard Wax they used for Brazilian Wax.

 This hot hard wax is proven to give you less painfull experience for Brazilian Wax. It has a strong grip but not too strong like sugar wax. Slightly feel warm down there but you will get used to it immediately. I am more surprised and startled each time than hurt.

Happy I managed to face my fear of waxing.

I would say I am very happy with my first waxing experience.

Also they have this amazing stamp promotion, for every 10k you spent there and you will get 1 stamp that you can redeem for any of the treatments.

They also have a package deal like pay 4 and get 1 or 4+1 which means you can pay 4 treatments in advance and each month you can cash it in for that specific treatment that you paid for and on the 5th month you will get it for free that is if you are a frequent waxer. It will save a lot of money on the long run.

Bikram Yoga: Hot Stuff to do in Jakarta

First time I heard Bikram Yoga, I thought it was some kind of kinky sex combine with Yoga. I was so curious. So I started a small research on YouTube (Yes, I search for 'what i think as' porn in YouTube). I was surprise it was a different kind of porn. It was porn for sport maniac. I mean in a good way. All the moves seems pretty easy and fun to do. I widen my search through Jakarta/Indonesia Bikram Yoga, turned out Jakartan seems to think Bikram Yoga is pretty cool or hot (suit yourself).

A couple hours after starting my research on Bikram Yoga, at this point, I am already hooked and baited by Bikram Yoga. I decided to find a class with reasonable price. Then I found a link on voucher selling website that they were selling Bikram Yoga voucher for really really cheap price. My boyfriend encouraged me to buy the voucher. Well, actually he bought the voucher for us. 35$ for 10 visits per person. Not so bad, compare to 150$ per month.

We started doing Bikram Yoga on weekend. Unfortunately the place was pretty far from our place, so we only managed to visit the place 3 times. We were both too lazy.

During the visits, we learned to breath properly during the practice and respecting other's exercise is highly important. There are rules inside the hot studio; like you are not suppose to leave the room, if you are tired you may sit down, you are not suppose to talk or disturb other people, make sure to drink plenty of water before-during-after, and all other rules. Tho some of Jakartans seem to think less of the rules; some of them comes late to the hot studio, talk to their friends, or drinking water when it is not the time. Ah well, what do you expect.

But the practice of Bikram Yoga was wonderful. Too bad we didn't come the day after our first day to get use to the practice. We also gave up on the 7 more visits. The place where way too far, taxi fee cost a lot and we are way too lazy to take public transportation.

If only, I had a chance of getting another voucher for Bikram Yoga for a closer place. I would gladly buy it. The exercise was fun and relaxing in the same time. I would like to do it again someday.

Anyway, if you are Jakartan and currently wanting or planning to join Bikram Yoga exercise, these will be my recommendation for the studios.

Quick Review: Em Life Palette (Love Life)

Aloha....Chicas..

I am back with another review. This one that I have promised you a while ago. I know I said I would wrote the review on early January but I got sick the past 2 weeks and his parents visiting from the States to meet my parents, love life has taken over. Right now, finally after 2 weeks of relentless coughing, I feel a lot better now.

So here I am, writing a review in between Tea Time break (in the office..sssttt)

I promise you that I have never used this EM Life Palette before I give you my review. I am pretty excited to finally make a review and finally I will be able to use it for daily needs or special occasion.

Here it is.. the Oh-SO-Gorgeous EM Life Palette (Love Life)

I love the packaging on how practice it is for me to pick any of my fav colors for a small compact size. The colors on this palette, some of them, I like it. But the rest, I would say my least favorite. Actually, I prefer the colors from the Beach Palette but I won't be able to use it as often for daily use.

 I could not get any good swatches due to lack of light. I will try to get it next time on a deeper review. For now, I am giving you my first and quick review of the palette.

Love:
1. The Gorgeous yet sleek packaging
2. Comes with free compact size
3. Easy to pluck in and out the colors if I wanna get it for my compact size
4. I like some of the colors (100% for the blush, 70% for the eyeshadow, 55% for the lip stain)
5. The shimmer colors on all of those shimmer ones are pretty normal and natural for daily looks.
6. Love the magnet pluck out thingy to help me remove the color blocks from the palette.
7. Decent 2 edges brush
8. Has better experience with this eyeshadow than the one I tried from Kanebo.
9. Easy to use and comes with lots of tutorial on YouTube.

Less:
1. The palette bowl color is white, so it is easily stained. (At least, it is easy remove the stain.)
2. I don't really care for some of the colors, especially for the lip stain.
3. The colors is not as opaque or as pigmented as I thought it will be.
4. Way too expensive for my range.

I think EM Cosmetics is a new brand and they are still experiencing glitch in some of their products. I fully understand it tho. I think EM hasn't reach its best potential yet. They definitely have good potential and I am still looking forward to their next best invention. I hope they haven't done experimenting on the colors and the quality of the products. I sincerely hope they will make a Life Palette 2.0 with better products quality, better consistency on the color's pigments and opaqueness.

Overall: 7.5
*) I still think this is a good product. Easy to use and practice. However, I still think they can do better with the quality of the products, at least this one (haven't tried other yet).
**) Do I think it is worth 75$? Maybe not quite there yet.
***) Will I repurchase? I might wanna try some other palettes like Beach Palette. But, and only if it is around 50$ or less. Unless, I really love this product so much (quality, colors, etc) then maybe I won't mind the 75$ price.

First time using it. Yeaaay. A very soft look for lips and eyes.

Quick Review: Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner

Gyaaaaaaaaaaa Finally I got my Wonder Pore. This is the product that I have always want for past couple of months I saw a blogpost about it.

I asked boyfriend to buy me this in Incheon Airport on his way to Indonesia from America. He looked around for Etude House store but couldn't find it. I forgot the store was on Garuda Terminal, not in the main terminal. So he had to visit 3 Duty Free stores to find it.
Funny thing happened when he was looking for this stuff. He keep having trouble with the sales person since they barely speak English (weird they work in Airport with soooo many foreigners). He said 2 sales person in 2 previous stores hinted (his guess) that the Wonder Pore is solo popular that it is always sold out. So when boyfriend asked for it, they just said "No more pore, no more pore!". I guess maybe what they meant to say is that the Wonder Pore is sold out..hahaha same thing also happened when he asked for Cracked Nail Polish from Face Shop, the sales person just said "no more nails..no more nails" makes no sense at all.
Finally he found it on the 3rd store...pfffffuiiih. I am just so glad he did.

He bought me the biggest size of 500ml for price of 15$ almost the same price with Indonesian price for Wonder Pore 250ml.

The bottle is too big for me to use and according to the picture on the back cover of the packaging, it says I can use it as face mist too. So I took some of it out and put it on a pink bottle.

Hehe it looks so cute when it stands near the big bottle. I just used it once or twice. So I won't be able to make result review yet. But I will try to update it once I got the visible result. Btw, I also planning to try this product on my boyfriend's skin. He has orange skin pore because he used to have acnes. I would like to see if this product is as good as what people say even if the skin problem is more visible. I have pores but not as big. What annoys me the most is the tip of the nose area. It's clogged. I hope this product will make it better.
